The Lovely Bones (movie)

At last...this movie is out

Why am I excited about this movie?
Because I have read the book. (-_-)

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold is one of the book that I managed to read until the last page.
If i read a book until the last page, it means i'm interested in it.
and I remember I drop tears while reading this book.

More to it, it's a film by Peter Jackson
Peter Jackson doing drama..
Mark Wahlberg doing drama..
I'm curious enough to find out.

And luckily it turned out to be a NOT disappointing one.

Although IMHO, it would be quite confusing for those who didn't read the book beforehand.

"My name is Salmon, like the fish.. First name : Susie"

Susie (Saoirse Ronan) was a 14 years old girl, raised in a happy family who loves her so much, especially her dad (Mark Wahlberg).
She was murdered by her own neighbour, George Harvey (Stanley Tucci); a pedophile.

Her body cannot be found and George Harvey remained safe, since there's no evidence, there's no witness.

After she was murdered, her family life scattered to pieces.
Her dad couldn't take the fact that his little girl went missing.
Her mom (Rachel Weisz) couldn't stand her husband behaviour and decided to go somewhere else.
Her siblings felt their deepest lost.
Susie herself still own the rage towards George Harvey and decided to stay in limbo, between earth and heaven, to help her family in coping with their lifes after her death

This movie offers the beautiful description of the life in between earth and heaven, between living and dreaming. breathtaking visual effects..(i think PJ doesnt expect this to be rated any less than his previous Avatar)

The tense and thriller-like feelings given at some scenes made me hold breath for seconds.
And at the same time giving moral lesson of optimism, love, to believe your feelings and learn how to let go.

and I Love Mark Wahlberg acting !

too bad, i don't really like Stanley Tucci playing as George Harvey. As already predicted by so many people before, he failed in delivering Mr. Harvey's character from book to reel.

My verdict : 8 out of 10
